So for the past couple weeks I’ve been really interested in making music.
Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve loved singing and writing songs, but I never had the music knowledge to actually create them.
I took a few weeks of piano in 2018, but health problems quickly made me quit that. I only learned enough to play Jingle Bells, anyway. So what could I do?
Well… I’M A SELF-TAUGHT GAL THROUGH AND THROUGH. Google, hit me up with “how to make a beat”.
I hopped on that keyboard, pulled up that GarageBand, and fooled around.
See, I love music. It’s my favorite thing, like, ever. It has impacted my life in so many ways (which is why it’s important to listen to wholesome music). And I wanted to create the stuff I wanted to listen to.
I made a lot of stuff. It wasn’t very good. I mean, the stuff I make still isn’t very good. But at least it’s better, kind of?
ANYWAY DO YOU WANT TO HEAR MY NEW SONG???

Soooo what do you think? No don’t insincerely compliment, I want your brutally honest opinion so I can improve. Rip this thing to shreds so I can know what to fix!
YESS WHAT A BOP I LOVE IT
the style of music is so funn
AWW THANK YOU ISABEL so happy you like it <3
Ok, so here’s my honest opinion. (I’m being a bit critical, but just because you asked.)
First of all, I really like the fact that you’re making music! I feel like you have potential in the industry. This was a good first single.
However, it’s not something I would just be like, “I love this song!”
I like instrumental music, don’t get me wrong. But I like music where there is a melody. This would work better if there was vocals attached, or even just an instrument that plays a melody instead of just repeated noises. This song was also very repetitive, but not exactly in a good way.
Also, that bridge felt out of place. It would probably work better with vocals.
Anyway, this is definitely a great start, and it kind of gives me ‘Blinding Lights’ vibes. I like it, but there’s definitely room for improvement.
But I mean, you don’t have to listen to me! I’ve never made music before, so I definitely am not the person to ask. Keep being awesome!
Thanks so much for the feedback, Diamond! I’ll definitely be working hard to improve and I really appreciate it! I agree on the bridge feeling out of place… it was a happy song and then I inserted WORLD DOMINATION VIBES
You’re welcome! I’m glad to be of help.
Also, it’s incredibly cool that I can now say I’m friends with an official musician.
(Are you planning on dropping any singles on streaming platforms??)
Oh my goodness, that would be the coolest thing ever. Idk how to do that, but if I can, I absolutely will once I start making better stuff!
I’d love to see it!
I really wan to listen but I can’t figure out how…XD
Have you tried clicking the play button? It just plays right on the site!
Figured it out! Good job!
I have been. Working on an original as well!?
Are you going to post it anywhere? I would love to hear!
Yes, it’s not quite finish but I will probably be posting it in my blog I. The next couple days
I can’t wait to hear it!
Great song! If you are looking for a easy instrument, try the guitar. Since you have experience in piano, it shouldn’t be to hard to play. Plus it is really easy to make your own songs on it.
Here is my opinion, The ending could be (idk how to say it) more pronounced. The rest of the song was great! I love how upbeat it is!
You did a great job! Can not wait to see more!
Thank you so much, Raegan! You are so kind!
I’m being brutally honest when I say this: it was amazing. 🙂
Oh Esther, thank you so much!
😉 No problem!!! <3
A supermodel? *AND* a musician? #NotFair
Thanks, Dad! 😉
Madi! This was so unexpected lol, but I love it! I’m not music-smart enough to critique, so I’ll just be one of the happy listeners. It’s so fun that you’re trying something new!
Aww thank you so so much!
Ahh, Madi, that was so good! You did a wonderful job! The only thing I could suggest improving was that it was a little repetitive, but other than that it was great! I also loved the name – Summer Is Coming! 🙂
Thanks, Hannah! I think I have an idea to fix the repetitiveness, so I’ll be working hard on new music. Thanks again!
So good! If you ever need help with lyrics(when you get there of course) I’m the one to ask! I love the tune you have going on. But I feel like right before the course(can’t spell IDK how its spelled) I think there should be a quick beat drop so that way it’s distinguishable.
Loved it! I will definitely be listening to it a lot!
Thanks, Mary! I agree that there should be a beat drop there! Thanks again Mary, you are so sweet!
Awesome job!!! Very happy and upbeat. 😀
Thank you so much Keziah!
DUUUUUDE THIS IS SO COOL! I LOVE IT! I’m listening to it right now, and it’s awesome! AHHH THE BEAT JUST DROPPED AND I LOVE IT!!!
OH MY GOODNESS THANK YOU SO MUCH EMMIEEEEE!!!
That’s awesome, Madi! Keep up the work. How did you synthesize it? It’s great!
Thank you Ana! I used a synth pre-set!
“If You Steal, You Get The Coronavirus.” Is it bad that I found that funny?
But also Madi + music = yes please.
Not at all, because I found it funny too! XD
Thank youuu <3
A new Madi post!! *sqeals* I looove that song! It’s so bouncy and awesome! 😀 And that is so awesome that you figure out how to do that! *high fives you* Wonderful post! 😀
-Laura <3 🙂
Thank you Laura!!!
That’s awesome, Madi!! You should look up Magix Music Maker. It’s a great program to make songs like this. I have the 2015 version. your song sounds awesome!!
Thank you Victoria! I’ll see if I can check it out!
This is so fun! Personally not a style I would listen to except maybe at a dance or something, but the way you set up each tune and beat sounds like they run very smoothly together. Not sure how I feel about the beginning with the chorus (idk what to call them XD). They don’t quite match, but it could still work. I can’t wait to see what else you do! <3 😀
Yeah, instrumental EDM is definitely a special niche! Thank you so much, Danielle!
…It had honestly never occurred to me that you could just google “how to make a beat.”
You have opened my eyes.
This was, as I believe Ed Robertson would call it, “a beautiful landscape of sounds.” 🙂 <3
Wow, Weez, thank you so much! <3
Wow, that’s gotta take a lot of talent. Good job, Madi!!!
Thank you so much for listening, Rosy!
I like it but I think it would have been better if someone is singing? or just a few lines probably in the song? hehe
Hehe, I definitely have plans to include lyrics in my songs soon! Thank you for listening <3
YAYYYY YOU SHARED IT
YAYYY THANK YE
first off: HOW DARE WORDPRESS NOT NOTIFY ME THAT YOU POSTED NOT ONCE, BUT TWICE????? rude.

Most crazily, ~Olive
Thank you so much, Olive!!
<3 <3 <3
I was expecting lyrics with it, but aside from that, this is a really great start. I think the beat will be in my head for the rest of the day. Thanks for sharing! Can’t wait to see what you do next.
Thank you so so so much, Laura Beth!!
